Bid Synopsis:

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources will remove waste from several sites around the state with abandoned electronic waste, following the conclusion of a lengthy criminal investigation of former Ladysmith-based electronics recycling company 5R Processors. 2021 Wisconsin Act 234 provided funds to ensure removal of electronic waste on eligible properties that are no longer owned by 5R Processors or its successors.
5R Processors, established in 1990, processed electronic waste, including cathode ray tubes (CRTs) that were not properly recycled and therefore classified as hazardous waste. The company was headquartered in Ladysmith, Wis., and operated at several locations throughout Wisconsin and in Tennessee.
Eligible properties for waste removal under this request include: properties owned by Rusk County and the City of Ladysmith (1100 Barnett Road, Ladysmith; W. 8th Street, Ladysmith, and 600 Gates Ave, Ladysmith), and property owned by Lawrence Dukerschein in Glen Flora (W 3620 Artisan Drive, Ladysmith). Materials at these properties include loosely packed semi-trailers of waste and Gaylord boxes of broken (processed) CRT glass, computer related peripherals and plastics, along with other hazardous and solid waste.
The State of Wisconsin, through the Department of Natural Resources (department) Waste and Materials Management Program, is overseeing the work to be performed. The work will include removal of waste, along with related reports for the work.
All work must be completed and invoices submitted by June 30, 2023.
