Port Edwards
This solicitation is for two projects with unique scopes. Consultants may submit proposals for one or both.
The Remediation and Redevelopment Program (RR) at the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is seeking proposals from qualified firms interested in providing consulting services to assist with brownfield redevelopment planning at a former paper mill in the village of Port Edwards, WI (the Village). The former paper mill site is 180-acres in size and operated for over 100 years. In 2013, DMI Acquisitions LLC of Columbus, OH acquired the property with plans to lease the plant buildings and sell the equipment; however, only a portion of the former mill has found new uses. In 2016, Port Edwards worked with a planning firm to prepare a redevelopment plan and economic development strategy, focusing on industrial reuse; however, updated efforts are needed to revision the reuse of the property. The goal of this project is to generate actionable ideas for redeveloping this site that are realistic and consistent with existing plans and community needs. This planning project is focused on a smaller area of the former mill that is approximately 46 acres and includes 6 parcels of the primary former mill properties that are not being used.
Cuba City
This solicitation is for two projects with unique scopes. Consultants may submit proposals for one or both.
The Remediation and Redevelopment Program (RR) at the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is seeking proposals from qualified firms interested in providing consulting services to assist with the community engagement and visioning process for a soon-to-be vacant, large senior care and rehabilitation facility located in Cuba City, WI (the City). The senior care facility is a 9-acre site (the Property) with asbestos containing materials and other potential environmental conditions. The buildings will likely need to be torn down to make the site useable for future development.
The current owners of the senior care facility are offering to sell the site to the City for $1 on the condition that they tear down and remediate any contamination. Before the City acquires the site, the goal is to create a plan for its future use.
